Dear Editor:

Regarding the manuscript by Sheats R, Masse J-F, Levine M, et al. Novel therapies for preventing, managing and treating obstructive sleep apnea and snoring in pediatric and adult patients. J Dent Sleep Med. 2024;11(2).  . DOI 11. 10.15331/jdsm.7332:

I would like to thank the authors for this consensus publication. Although we enjoyed reading this manuscript, we could not help but notice that the authors specify that “…no studies were available that supported lingual or buccal tethered tissue releases as having any efficacy in addressing adult OSA…” which is a clear omission of our publication on frenotomy and adult OSA.1 In 2022 we published an article on a novel approach addressing the effect of frenotomy on drug-induced sleep endoscopy, which can be found on PubMed using the search term “frenotomy adult OSA”. Even though there are no additional publications on this area of research, we invite the authors to read our Open Access article and to consider our findings in any future discussion.

Sincerely,

Eduardo Javier Correa
