This webinar will explore sex-specific differences in clinical presentation of sleep disorders and in particular sleep apnea is of paramount importance as is implications of diagnostic approaches and treatment responsiveness in various treatments for sleep apnea.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Understand the nuances of the differences in clinical presentation of sleep apnea in women compared to men and implications of sociocultural factors.
- Characterize the considerations of sex-specific differences in pathophysiology and diagnostic testing in sleep apnea.
- Relay differences in treatment responsiveness in women compared to men of sleep apnea treatment modalities.
Dr. Mehra is a clinician scientist dedicated to investigating sleep disorders and their impact on health and disease with a focus on cardiopulmonary disease including sex-specific differences in sleep apnea diagnostic testing and treatment responsiveness. She is Division Head of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, Professor of Medicine with tenure and A. Bruce Montgomery, MD, American Lung Association Endowed Chair in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Washington. She has served as Chair of NIH Workshops, Chair of the 2022 AHA statement on sleep apnea and cardiac arrhythmia, Associate Editor of the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine (IF=24.7) and sole author of Up to Date: Obstructive sleep apnea and cardiovascular disease in adults for the last 10 years. She has over 200 publications (>26K citations) including in the New England Journal of Medicine and JAMA journals, delivered >350 lectures including nationally and internationally and mentored more than 45 trainees.
