AADSM's Position on HSATs

Recently, the AADSM published a position statement on the scope of practice for dentists ordering and administering home sleep apnea tests (HSATs). During this webinar, Dr. David Schwartz, President of the AADSM, will review why the position statement was developed and how the AADSM is planning to disseminate it. He will also provide an overview of how members can use the position statement to improve access to care for patients at-risk for obstructive sleep apnea in their own communities.  The webinar will end with a question and answer session.  

Objectives
Upon completion of the webinar, participants will be able to:
  1. Explain the AADSM’s position on dentists ordering or administering HSATs; and
  2. Advocate for dentists improving the model of care for patients at-risk for sleep apnea.
 
    David Schwartz, DDS is the current President of the AADSM. He started his general restorative dental practice in the Chicago area in 1988. He is a graduate of Indiana University and the University of Illinois College of Dentistry. Although he enjoys practicing many fields of dentistry, he has had a focus in dental sleep medicine for the last 22 years. He started the dental component of and is currently director of dental sleep medicine at The Center for Sleep Medicine in the Chicagoland area locations.


Dr. Schwartz has been a member of the AADSM since 1998 and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine. He brings a wealth of experience to the dental sleep community, has educated dentists around the world on the benefits of dental sleep medicine and has served on several AADSM committees and task forces over the years.
