Dear AADSM Members,
January is a time to embrace new opportunities – a topic that was a focal point during the recent quarterly board of directors meeting. As we jump into a new year, it’s my pleasure to keep you informed of the organization’s direction and how you can maximize your membership in 2016.
All members share a passion for dental sleep medicine and the life-altering benefits of the treatments we provide. If you are already an advocate for dental sleep medicine in your own community, consider extending your influence by responding to the call for nominations for the AADSM board of directors. Board members act as an advocate and voice for the interests of the dental sleep medicine community, and enable our field to cultivate important relationships with other organizations. Through January 20, we are accepting nominations for the Director-at-Large position. To be considered for the position, you must be a regular member of the AADSM in good standing. Becoming a member of the AADSM board of directors is one of the best decisions I have made in my own career, and I hope you will consider submitting your own application for consideration.
Another great opportunity to consider in 2016 is AADSM Facility Accreditation. For this year only, the AADSM board has voted to make the prestigious Facility Accreditation designation more accessible by offering a $500 discount on any applications received in 2016, as well as a $200 credit for those who purchase the template policy and procedure manual. Facility Accreditation is an ideal way to demonstrate that your business meets the AADSM’s high standards of proficiency, professionalism and quality patient care. I encourage you to consider pursuing this step in 2016.
The AADSM is committed to advancing the dentist’s role in the treatment of sleep-disordered breathing – and already in 2016 we have a national PR campaign, a robust professional education offering and an engaging 25th Anniversary Meeting scheduled to help us continue achieving this goal.
On behalf of your AADSM board of directors, I wish you and your patients a happy and healthy new year. Thank you for your time, your membership and for all you will do in 2016 to help the AADSM advance the practice of dental sleep medicine.
