Dear AADSM Members,
After another busy board of directors meeting this quarter, it’s my pleasure to once again update you on the direction of our organization.
Education continues to be a main focus for the AADSM, and the very heart of the value we offer our members. Last year’s membership survey indicated that the superior educational offerings provided by the AADSM are one of the most important benefits to members. And as the recently published Clinical Practice Guideline for Oral Appliance Therapy reminds us, “the successful delivery of oral appliances requires technical skill, acquired knowledge, and judgment regarding outcomes and risks of these therapies.” This in-depth knowledge comes through continuous education, and I am excited to announce that the AADSM is deepening our educational offerings with a new series of Q&A Webinars. The live Q&A Webinars, launching in November, will bring timely topics and quality instruction to the comfort of your own home or office. They also will provide the opportunity to submit detailed questions and receive insightful answers that can help your practice grow and improve.
In addition to education, several other important topics were discussed during the September board of directors meeting, including the growth of telemedicine, the application of the Clinical Practice Guideline recommendations, avenues for driving increased dental sleep medicine research, and updates on our national PR campaign.
Finally, I am excited to let you know that next year will mark the 25th anniversary of the AADSM. What was once a small collection of dentists with a common interest is now the leading national organization for dentists who use oral appliance therapy to manage sleep-disordered breathing. We are over 3,300 members strong, thanks to each and every one of you, and the position papers, research, education and guidelines we produce have set the course of dental sleep medicine and empowered our members to benefit thousands of sleep apnea sufferers. I encourage you to continue making history with us by renewing your AADSM membership today.
Thank you for your time, your membership, and for all you do to advance the practice of dental sleep medicine.
