NIDCR Seeks Ideas for Strategic Planning: Opportunity to Encourage Research in Dental Sleep Medicine

Monday, August 12, 2013

The NIH's National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) is working on a strategic plan to guide research efforts over the next six years (2014-2019). The strategic planning process gives them a unique opportunity to gather input from individuals and organizations with a stake in the research and its outcome - including researchers, clinicians, patients, educators, scientific and professional societies, health voluntary organizations, industry groups, and others.

To date, very little federal grant money has been allocated to dental sleep medicine therapies, models of care delivery, or the impact of OSA on oral health. To our knowledge, there are no plans to do so. All AADSM members are highly encouraged to take this opportunity to emphasize the need to include research funding in these areas.

Please take a moment to respond to one or more of the seven questions on the comment form.  NIDCR invites you to identify yourself and/or your institution and relationship to the Institute so  they can better understand your perspective; however, anonymous input is also welcome.  Please send your comments to the NIDCR no later than September 6, 2013.
