Public Relations Campaign Launches to Drive Awareness of OAT

The AADSM recently launched a full-scale public relations campaign to build consumer awareness of oral appliance therapy and help patients understand that there is a viable alternative to CPAP available - via a dentist!

The three-year PR campaign will "introduce" oral appliance therapy to consumer magazines, national and local newspapers and broadcast outlets, and drive patients to LocalSleepDentist.com, where they can easily find an AADSM member in their area. The campaign also will promote dental sleep medicine to magazines and journals written specifically for dentists and sleep physicians.

In the first month of media outreach, we've seen industry articles in outlets including DentistryIQ.comSleep Review and Advance for Respiratory Care & Sleep Medicine. We've also coordinated national media stories with outlets including Real Simple magazine and The Huffington Post, which will appear in the coming months.

As the campaign unfolds, stay tuned for media coverage, a "Member Toolkit" to help you leverage media momentum locally, and a series of Twitter chats - starting this month - to generate online buzz for oral appliance therapy.
